UV printing is a new type of printing, which was almost heard of recently. Now, more and more printers are using UV printing owing to its many advantages over traditional printing.

In fact, the printing process for both printings is almost identical; the difference comes in two points -the inks and the drying process associated with those inks.

First, traditional offset printing uses solvent inks, which are not environmental protection. Because solvent links will evaporate into the air, releasing VOC's. And most importantly, traditional inks must be absorbed by the substrate they are printed on therefore, you can not use them on materials like plastic, foil, or acrylics. However, UV printing uses UV inks, which will dry immediately and release no VOC's into the environment. Therefore UV printing is regarded as a green technology, which is safe for the environment and leaving an almost no carbon footprint. 

The second is that solvent inks require additional spray powders to aid in drying. Because they are absorbed into the paper, colors can become diluted and less bright. Drying can add days to each job according to the papers character and weight. While, VU inks dry through a photomechanical process. When the inks are exposed to ultraviolet light during printing, they immediately change from a liquid to a solid, with almost no solvent evaporation and no ink absorption into the paper. So you can print on virtually whatever you want when using UV inks! Of course, because UV inks dry on contact, they never get dirty . And that means, no matter what type of paper you use, you never need to add expensive coatings to prevent stains and erasers.
